Why meditate? Meditation builds focus and awareness, essential conditions for a clear and stable mind. Meditation helps us more honestly engage with ourselves and the world around us. These classes offer hands-on experience with the basic elements of meditation using the breath and techniques for coping with distracted or drowsy moments. Classes are open to all - newcomers to meditation, long time meditators, and those looking for group meditation with others. Leave feeling peaceful and relaxed. You are welcome to bring a comfortable cushion and blanket. This program is generously sponsored and facilitated by Jewel Heart Tibetan Buddhist Center. No session on Nov 23.

General Membership (GM) socials generally take place every other month. Come for a brief update about the center from the SASC Director, Community Ed Director, and City of Saline Council Rep. Then enjoy lunch and socializing with friends: broccoli and cheddar or chicken pot pie soup, salad, bread bowl, and dessert, sponsored by Linden Square. If space remains after the deadline on Friday, October 13, a $2 late fee will be added. Register here

Complete a painting step by step. You will learn a bit about the process while painting, with tips on composition, color use, and the elements and principles of art as you go through each step. Materials and Linda’s famous chocolate chip cookies provided. Register here
Elder abuse can happen anywhere. This training discusses the different types of abuse, signs to look out for, and actionable steps we can all take to prevent elder abuse in our community. Participants will walk away with a general knowledge of potential older adult risk factors and feel secure in referring an older adult to resources if needed. Register here or call 734.429.9274.

The Recorder Ensemble has been working hard on new tunes and are excited to perform for the membership. Refreshments served after the performance. Register here.

September 30 was our Annual Mystery Trip. We started out with a movie in our luxury bus while on our way to our first stop, Frederick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. We took a tram tour, ate lunch, and wandered a bit. Then we popped over to Art Prize in Grand Rapids to view a little art. It was a great day. We will be doing trips to both venues separately for a longer period of time in 2024, if you’d like to come along next time. Join in on the fun with our upcoming trips in the Nov/Dec Newsletter, out in about a week. We will be going to see A Christmas Carol and the lights in Rochester Hills in November. We also will take a trip to see The Nutcracker in December.
