Bag & Jewelry Sale this Friday and Saturday

The May/Jun is now available online on our website. We have a lot of new programming and new sessions beginning next week; be sure to check out the offerings! As a note, the earlier you register for a program, the better chance it has to run. Please register for ALL programs, even if they are free.

Donations
Many members have asked what they can donate to the organization. We have an Amazon Wish List here and can always use coffee bar items like coffee (decaf and regular), hot chocolate packets, sweeteners, and cream. Thank you for your contributions!

Our Bag & Jewelry Sale fundraiser is this weekend! SASC members can shop early on Friday, April 28, 3-4pm.

We are continuing to take registrations for Wicked until Friday, April 28. WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz...but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another woman, born with emerald  green skin and smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships... until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.” Show begins at 6:30pm, return by 10:30-11pm.

On Thursday we celebrated SASC volunteers with a breakfast provided by StoryPoint. In the 2022 fiscal year, volunteers contributed over 2,600 hours: group leaders, instructors, events, Pen Pals, Pickleball, Meals on Wheels, and more! Volunteers help to make this organization run smoothly. We are so grateful for each and every one of you!

Start your week off right with this gentle stretching class. Stretches can be done sitting or standing in this class. Amy will help you focus on your breath, while leading you through stretches to leave you feeling limber and relaxed. We encourage you to go barefoot in the class (if comfortable) and bring a yoga mat to stand on. SASC has some mats you may borrow if needed. All fitness levels are welcome to join this class.

Saline is talking a great deal about STEM these days since passing the recent bond. Among the emerging technologies to play a role in many schools is the quadcopter, or drone. This “flying camera” seems to be everywhere these days and schools are leveraging it as a tool for learning more about not only flight but regulations, mechanics, problem-solving, and practical applications. Dr. McVey, a professor of educational technology and a school board trustee for Saline, will introduce you to a drone and invite you to take it for a flight.

Katherine makes Watercolors easy to learn. No drawing experience is necessary - you’ll trace from a stencil! In each class you will learn about color theory and mixing while working on different projects related to the themes.

In this six-week class, we will luxuriate in  reading and discussing some of the best poems of the past year as found in the anthology, The Best American Poetry 2022. If you’ve always loved poetry and you’ve felt frustrated or even angry at the challenges posed by contemporary poetry, this class is for you. Students are encouraged to purchase a copy of the anthology before the first class, but it is not necessary. Liam is a new Michigan transplant. He has taught a version of this class several times for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Sedona, Arizona. No class May 29.

General knowledge of Tai Chi principles and a proficiency of the “first loop” of Yang Family 108 Long Form are required. Included are brief meditation and Tao te Ching verses.
